How to Slow the Appearance of Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Wrinkles are as natural as the skin that welcomes them, but that does not mean we have to embrace every wrinkle that comes our way. With a little love you can reduce wrinkles and even help slow the aging process.

The first signs of aging can pop up around 25 years old. This is when  our skin’s building block, collagen, starts to decrease by a small percentage each year after the age of 25. It is never too early, or too late, to start preventing the effects of aging and using simple remedies to reduce and even get rid of the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Ways to Reduce Wrinkles

●    Look at your diet.

Your skin is the biggest organ in your body and it is true what they say, “you are what you eat”. Diets high in processed sugar, salt and saturated fat are an enemy to youthful looking skin. Focus on whole foods with plenty of fresh vegetables in every meal. Other foods high in antioxidants include green tea, dark chocolate and nuts and seeds.

 ●    Stop sleeping in your makeup.

If you are too tired to properly wash your face before you crawl into bed, it is time to plan ahead and start getting ready earlier. Sleeping in your makeup is one of the worst things you can do for your skin and wrinkles. It is worth the extra 3-5 minutes it takes to completely remove all makeup and moisturize your face for the night.

●    Get enough sleep.

Speaking of bedtime, are you getting enough sleep? They do not call it beauty sleep for nothing. Research shows a good night’s rest has countless benefits including improving dark circles under the eyes and more youthful looking skin.

●    Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen.

This is another must-have habit if you are wanting to delay the aging skin process as long as possible. Get in the habit of wearing sunscreen everyday, even in the winter. Make the effort to wear a hat and sunglasses when you are out in the sun and avoid “tanning” by the pool.

●    Make an appointment for Jeuveau; the “Newtox.”

Sometimes we just need that extra boost to make all our other efforts worth it! Jeuveau (or what some are referring to as Newtox) is a form of purified botulinum toxin that can temporarily minimize the appearance of wrinkles. It injects underneath the skin to paralyze them and helps soften the wrinkles on top of the muscles and prevents skin from creasing and forming new lines. This FDA-approved treatment is similar to Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®. While more affordable than Botox and Dysport, Jeuveau is highly comparable to both products, according to the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. Our doctor here at Mountain West Medical Services in Meridian, Idaho is available for this treatment.

There are so many things we love about Jeuveau! The treatment only takes about 15 minutes to inject. Patients are likely to notice results soon after the first session, but most see visible changes after 2-3 days. Jeuveau lasts about 3-6 months and results wear off gradually so you never have to worry about looking unnatural. You can find more information at https://jeuveau.evolus.com/faqs/ and reach out to our team at Mountain West Medical serving the Meridian, Idaho and Boise, Idaho area to book your appointment.
