Jeuveau and Newtox
What is Jeuveau (Newtox)?
Jeuveau is a form of purified botulinum toxin that can temporarily minimize the appearance of wrinkles. Dr. McRae injects Jeauveau into muscles underneath the skin to paralyze them. This helps soften the wrinkles on top of the muscles and prevents your skin from creasing and forming new lines.
This FDA-approved treatment is similar to Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®. While more affordable than Botox and Dysport, Jeuveau is highly comparable to both products, according to the Aesthetic Surgery Journal.
What does Jeuveau do?
Jeuveau relaxes wrinkles by temporarily immobilizing the muscles underneath. By doing so, Jeuveau improves the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).
While Jeuveau primarily treats glabellar lines, it can also be an effective treatment for other dynamic wrinkles — which form due to repeated muscle movement — such as crow’s feet, forehead lines, and nasolabial folds around the mouth.
Once injected, Jeuveau can take years off your appearance without surgery or extensive downtime.
How long does Jeuveau take?
Jeuveau only takes about 15 minutes to inject, making it the perfect lunch break treatment. You may notice results soon after your first session, but most people see visible changes in their wrinkles after 2-3 days. According to U.S. studies, 68-70% of Jeuveau patients saw significant improvement in their frown lines within the first 30 days of treatment.
How long does Jeuveau last?
Much like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, Jeuveau lasts about 3-6 months, and many men and women continue to see results through the fifth month. Jeuveau results wear off gradually, so you never have to worry about looking unnatural.
Jeuveau is a safe, effective treatment that can treat and prevent wrinkles. Once you notice your results wearing off, you can return to Dr. McRae for a maintenance appointment.
Does Jeuveau have side effects?
You may experience localized pain, swelling, tenderness, bleeding, or bruising immediately after your first Jeuveau treatment, but these side effects should subside over the next few hours and days.
The most common side effects of Jeuveau include headache, increased white blood cell count, and eyelid drooping.
